Bring identification showing your current address to any Hennepin County library to get a card.

Apply online. Your card will be mailed to you.

Minnesota residents (outside of Hennepin County)
Bring your local library card to any Hennepin County library to register your card.
OR
Register your local library card online. If you include an email address in your application, you will be notified when the registration is complete (within five business days.)

Organizations and businesses located in Hennepin County
Organization cards allow patrons to borrow physical materials, but do not allow the checkout of downloadable content or remote access to subscription databases. Read more and apply online.

Nonresident fee cards
Individuals who are non-Minnesota residents or Minnesota residents whose public library is not a member of one of the regional public library systems may obtain a Hennepin County Library card for an annual fee ($45). Fee-based cards allow patrons to borrow physical materials, but do not allow the checkout of downloadable content or remote access to subscription databases. Read more.

Lost Cards
Report a lost or stolen card immediately to avoid responsibility for unauthorized use. There is a $1 charge for a replacement card.
