Minneapolis Public Library: Learning Commons: Travel Information

Welcome to Travel Information

Whether you're planning to trip to St. Cloud, Minnesota, or St. Cloud, France, or just doing research, begin your journey with the travel books at the Minneapolis Public Library.

We offer a large selection of travel books with both up-to-date and historical information, for travel in the United States and around the world. The latest editions of such standard guides as Fodor's, Frommer's and Lonely Planet are added yearly. And to help you find a place to stay, a bite to eat and a liquid libation when you arrive at your destination, we also offer a fine collection of hotel/motel, B&B, restaurant and bar/pub directories.

Travel wouldn't be travel without maps, and whether you need to focus on a destination or research your hometown, the Library offers a huge number of maps and related material. The maps cover the United States and the world, detailing regions, countries and cities. Many different types of maps are collected, for a variety of uses.

Road maps are a large part of the collection. Atlases are also available, as are gazetteers and historical maps for places such as Minneapolis. The library also collects recreational maps for boating, canoeing, camping, cycling and hiking. We also offer topographic maps. And best of all, the road maps and many of the atlases area available for checkout.
