Assistive Technology

The library provides special services for people with disabilities, including adaptive equipment, auxiliary aids, and materials such as closed-captioned videos, descriptive videos, large print books, and audiobooks.

Assistive Technology Lab at Central

Adaptive Equipment at Community Libraries

Adaptive equipment at community libraries includes electronic print magnifiers at Northeast and Nokomis Community Libraries.

Audio Materials

See our regularly updated lists of New Talking Books on Order and New Music CDs.

Downloadable e-audiobooks from NetLibrary may be of interest as well. These can be downloaded and played on Windows-based computers or compatible digital audio players.

Interpreters

On request, the library will provide sign language interpreters for library programs; call (612) 630-6241 (or (612) 630-6003 TTY) at least one week in advance to request an interpreter.

Home Delivery

Minneapolis residents with limited mobility can have books delivered to them by a volunteer. To request this service, or to become a book delivery volunteer, call (612) 630-6170.
